2nd International Conference on p-Adic Mathematical Physics

15 - 21 September 2005, Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro

General Information

Since 1987, p-adic numbers have been used in many attempts to find a non-Archimedean approach to some actual problems of theoretical physics. As a result, it appeared a new field of modern mathematical physics called p-adic mathematical physics. In the last few years, there has been a growing interest to discuss various achievements related to the mathematical tools, as well as possible applications in physics: from spacetime geometry at the Planck scale and strings, via spin glasses and hierarchical complex systems, to the universe as a whole. Enthusiastic researchers think that application of p-adic numbers is one of challenges of physics for the 21st century. The First International Conference on p-Adic Mathematical Physics (p-ADIC MATHPHYS.2003) was held in the Steklov Mathematical Institute, October 1-5, 2003 (see website: http://www.mi.ras.ru/~volovich/pmph2003/index.html).

The 2nd International Conference on p-Adic Mathematical Physics (p-ADIC MATHPHYS.2005) is organized by the Institute of Physics (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro). This meeting is devoted to recent developments in p-adic mathematical physics, its applications and related areas. The number of participants is expected to be about 50. Proceedings will be published soon after the conference. It is worth noting that this conference will be held in the World Year of Physics 2005 (http://www.wyp2005.org, http://www.physics2005.org).

A useful information on some papers in p-adic mathematical physics can be found on the website: http://www.maths.ex.ac.uk/~mwatkins/zeta/physics7.htm

Conference fee: 150 Euros, 100 Euros for PhD students, 50 Euros for accompanying person. It covers: transportation airport-hotel-airport, conference material, book of abstracts, copy of the Proceedings, social program, welcome party and conference dinner. Payment will be at the beginning of the conference during registration. The Loc. Org. Committee will try to provide a partial financial support for participants from the developing countries.

Application form, which is available online here, should be filled in and sent to Loc. Org. Committee before June 20, 2005. Those who wish to get a support should apply very soon and not later than March 15, 2005.
